To not have this happen you can remove the power cable from the acc position and put it on the same connection as the battery power, still going through the fuses. Now when ever you turn on the stereo with the key off the stereo will stay on. One note of warning tho. I have had to jump several cars with dead batteries from this type of setup. So if you walk away from the car remember to turn it off. Another solution is to put a switch in the dash that can be used to turn on power for those times you want it. Just hook the switch up in parallel with the acc power input so when no key is in the acc power will get power from the battery. Then turn it off when you are done. It wont hurt anything if you leave it on and then turn the key on. But if its off and the key is off you also wont run down the battery.
