Check to see if the electric cooling fans are coming on, and at the proper temperature.
The air conditioning is adding heat to the engine, and your cooling system cannot remove the extra heat. This happens with some cars at idle, when the heat stays around the engine and the coolant is not circulating as quickly. Extra electric fans are installed to deal with this, but they have to be operating properly and you have to have the proper mix of antifreeze as well.
It is normal to boil when you turn the car off. When the coolant stops flowing, the coolant in the hot engine boils and pushes steam out of the engine. The recovery tank collects the excess and allows it to go back in when the engine cools.
Coolant added to engine oil? It would run but it would do serious damage to internal parts of the engine and drastically shorten the life span of the engine. Don't run it! Have the oil and filter changed NOW.
The coolant sensor moniters the coolant temperature. A faulty thermostat could cause the engine to run cool.
By using a heat source to boil water.
The coolant fan continues to run after the engine has cooled and then turned off. The fan continues to run and runs the battery down.
yes, especially if the leak is causing coolant to leak, you can run out of coolant. then overheat.
Water in a car radiator does not normally boil. In some old cars, the cooling systems would run at about 220 degrees Fahrenheit. The pressure would be high enough so that the water would boil at 250 degrees. Today, you do not put water in radiators but coolant. It is much more efficient than water for cooling engines.
depending on the engine there is not one let the engine run with the coolant cap off and watch the res level
take fill cap off run engine this will run it though the system. if the system needs more coolant or had air pockets in it this will make it burp
After coolant is added run vehicle to normal operating temperature and re-check coolant level
Open the drain out valve at the bottom of the radiator to allow the coolant to run out. Replace the valve and add the fresh coolant.
You drain the oil immediately. If you run the engine with coolant mixed with the oil you will do serious harm to the engine. If you continue to drive it in this condition you will destroy the engine.
