A water pump should have nothing to do with the bearing in your engine. If you are hearing a knocking from the engine then you are going to need to replace/rebuild. I have seen bad waterpumps make knocking nosies but you said it was new. Id check your work!
No, the knock sensor helps the engine computer control ignition timing. The water pump pumps coolant through the engine, heater, and radiator.
Replacing the water pump for that vehicle is 16.0 labour hours. Engine and transmission need to be removed.
Replacing the water pump will not cause the check engine light to come on. Either it is a coincidence or you have accidentally disconnected a wire or damaged a sensor somehow.
Yes.
On my 91 you HAVE to remove the engine mount that covers the water pump.
Remove all coolant from engine and do not drive car anymore!
The process of replacing the water pump varies dependig upon the engine size Please post the engine size and will try to provide you with the needed steps
this is a non interference engine - lucky...
the water pump is driven by the timing chain.. that said, unless you have experience replacing timing sets, I wouldn't tackle this
If the timing belt drives the water pump, then yes, you should replace the pump at the same time as the belt.
If referring to an outboard engine, running the motor without water supplied will ruin a water pump in less than 60 seconds. Never dry run a marine engine.
If you only took of the parts you needed to to get at the water pump then no. When replacing the water pump you do not need to get far enough into the engine to do anything with the timing.
