To clear the light put ignition in the on position for 5 minutes. Turn ignition back to off for one minute. Then start the vehicle light should go off. This works if the key is the right key for the vehicle and there are no serious problems. Tim
Get your charging system checked out as it sounds like your alternator is going bad or the battery is shot.
Most likely the alternator, run a volt meter on the battery while the engine is running. Should have 14.5 volts. Less than 13, replace the alt.
Yes it did kill my battery
I had a situation where the security module(under the passenger seat) was drawing from the battery when the car was sitting. I removed it and the draw on the battery stopped, had to buy a new battery because the draw depleted the battery so bad over the winter that the cells died.
If a battery light is staying on, it generally means that your alternator isn't charging properly. Be prepared to have to pay for a new alternator, and if it has been damaged, a new battery as well.
Perhaps your radiator fan is staying on after the car is turned off. I have recently had this problem, and googled it. And someone else had the same problem.
this would typically be for security. do they eventually go off though is the quetion
Dead cell in the battery, any light on the car that is staying on, or a stuck relay.
Moving, advancing, walking, running
Can be a dead cell in the battery or any light on the vehicle that is staying on. Can also be a relay that is stuck.
