Depends on what the codes were, and what caused them. Clearing codes doesn't make the issue go away.
how do reset the airbag light on a 94 ford escort

Have vehicle scanned to determine problem and have codes cleared
To reset the check engine light on a 1994 Honda Civic locate the fuse box in the engine compartment. Find the ECU fuse and pull it off for at least 5 seconds. This will erase all codes on the ECU.
To reset the check engine light on a 1994 Volvo 960, you can disconnect the battery by removing the negative terminal for about 10-15 minutes. This will clear the engine codes and turn off the check engine light. Alternatively, you can use an OBD-I scanner to read and clear the codes. Always ensure any underlying issues are addressed before resetting the light.
The ideal way is to read them with a scan tool, fix the problem , and then reset them with the scan tool. Failing that you can unhook the battery and reset the codes until the failure reoccurs.
You can disconnect the negative battery cable, wait a couple minutes then reconnect the cable. This will clear the codes and reset the check engine light but, if the reason the light came on isn't fixed the light will come back on soon.
Go to the local library and obtain a repair manual for any escort up to 1994. Your car has the OBD 1 which is easy to access codes from but you will need the key as there are many codes that can be stored. Basically you take a paper clip and short across the diagnostic link and the engine light will flash but again there is a procedure you need to follow. I have done it many times but not on an Escort; but is is not hard once you get the manual.
For the 1994, you have to remove the negative battery cable, then depress the brake and hold it in for 5 seconds to reset the check engine light.
Check your local library for a repair manual
