A weak fuel pump or a partially clogged fuel filter will cause this. Can also be other things.
FUEL PUMP IS YOUR PROBLEM {why do you think its the fuel pump?}
Weak fuel pump Bad fuel filter
There could be a few causes for a car to spit and sputter on acceleration. One common cause would be the engine not getting enough fuel, so it could be a problem in the fuel line, fuel filter, or fuel pump.
A bad fuel pump may make the engine sputter. The engine may cut out and come back on, at first. Eventually, the engine will not run at all.
One reason a 1995 Honda Civic might sputter and cough while accelerating during normal driving is because of a bad coil. Another reason could be a bad fuel pump or fuel filter. Still another reason could be a bad oxygen sensor.
A Chevy S10 truck may sputter while driving due to several potential issues, including a clogged fuel filter, faulty fuel pump, or dirty fuel injectors, which can restrict fuel flow. Additionally, problems with the ignition system, such as worn spark plugs or ignition coils, can lead to misfires and sputtering. Vacuum leaks or issues with the air intake system can also disrupt the air-fuel mixture, causing the engine to sputter. Regular maintenance and diagnostics can help identify and resolve these issues.
if it tends to sputter and have no power i would suggest the fuel pump. it it is only after the car has warmed up, or a while after you start driving it might be the ignition module.
did you check your fuel pump pressure? Mine cost approximately $450 to fix. I had a similar problem with my 1998 zx2. the pump over heats and starts to sputter like your outta gas whil driving or just stalls. When the pump cools for several hours it will start right up.
Uhh well, on any car really.. if your fuel pump isn't delivering fuel your car will most likely sputter and shut off.
it may have somthing in gas line or your fuel pump may be going out
first check for a clogged fuel filter then look at the fuel pump.
In this order....one at a time cheapest on up...>>>Spark Plugs > Plug Wires > Coil Pack> Fuel Regulator> Fuel Pump.
