To replace the oil filter on a 1990 Toyota 4Runner, first ensure the engine is cool and then lift the vehicle safely if needed. Locate the oil filter, usually found near the engine block, and use an oil filter wrench to unscrew it. Before installing the new filter, apply a bit of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new filter, then screw it on by hand until snug. Finally, refill the engine oil and check for leaks after starting the engine.
