Dyanand Heralal was born in Guyana on January 4,1979 and was raised in the Bronx of New York City. He has two brother's and two sister's and his mother name is Mantrani Sookra. He never knew his father, Gatan Deo Heralal who is a complete stranger to him. Dyanand Heralal is Guyanese but his bloodline is of Indian, west indian, chinese, black, Pakistan, and japanese. In 1985, his family came to America to live. He grew up in the toughest and one of the most dangerous area in New York City, the Grand Concourse on 170th street at Wythe Place. In 1986, his mother's boyfriend almost beat him to death but he survived the brutal assault which was printed in the newspaper on November 7,1986. In 1991 & 1992, two of his cousins died young which was a tragic loss to the entire family. During the 1990's period, he had many street fights which he earned the respect from many people. In 1998, a two year old boy was killed before the child died he asked Dyanand for a quarter but he was broke at that time. Within minutes the child died at a drug dealing building section which made Dyanand very heart broken. At the age of 17, he dropped out of high school and started to work. Dyanand Heralal is known as the Man who Writes like a Computer, the Fatherless Son, the Soldier, & the King of Poverty. At the age of 5, he was very good in arts and very skillful hand writings. His hand writings is very beautiful and at a very young age many adults could not even write like him. At the age of 13, he began writing poems and was hailed by former New York City mayor David Dinkins for his poetry. In 1997, the president son of Time Warner, Jonathan Levin accomodated his poems. Later in that year, Jonathan Levin was tortured and murdered. It devastated Dyanand and everyone who knew him but no one thought Levin was a millionaire except his killers who was brought to justice later. In 2009, his best friend Shaki Young was killed by the NYPD which changed his life dramatically. In 2005, Heralal made a break through with his poems being noticed by a published poet Sandy Brown. In 2008, Heralal was honored poet of the year of 2008 and one of his poem was published. Dyanand Heralal poems is based on real life actual events. Through the years, he suffered many conflicts and ordeals which made him the man who he is today.
