Dr. Avril Mayling Siung-Chang is among Trinidad and Tobago's first female Marine Biologists. She was born in the United Kingdom on 9th May 1949, but have lived in Trinidad and Tobago most of her life. She is married with one child. Both of her parents are Medical doctors and she has four sisters. Academically Dr. Avril Siung Chang posses BSc. Honours Zoology University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, Ph.D UWI Mona Jamaica marine biology. Her main areas of research are Marine Ecology, Environmental Management and Environmental Health Issues.Dr. Siung-Chang is now retired and has focus her interest on sustainable development issues. She I also current involved in disaster management.
