To change the ABS pump on a 1998 Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 hatchback, first, disconnect the car battery to ensure safety. Remove the plastic cover and locate the ABS pump, which is typically mounted near the brake master cylinder. Disconnect the electrical connectors and brake lines from the pump, then unbolt it from its mount and replace it with the new unit. Reattach everything in reverse order, ensuring that you properly bleed the brake system afterward to remove any air.
My Vectra did this a few times. It was diagnosed as a fault caused by the ABS unit. A main dealer tried various mods then changed the whole module. That cured it. I don't what it cost as it was under warranty.
relays gone in abs module or abs rings in hub worn
The circle with 3 broken lines either side is almost universally a symbol for "breaks". If I remember correctly, on a Vectra it's the ABS warning light, and means that the ABS system has failed it's self-diagnostic test, and has turned it self off.
To test an abs sensor for a Lexus ES you will need to use a multimeter. The multimeter will determine if the abs sensor works or not.
I am fairly sure that the Astra G (Mk 4) models withoutABS have the speed sensor in the gearbox, and the ABS models take the road speed from the left-hand front wheel hub. Unfortunately, the gearboxes fitted to ABS models have the speed sensor hole plugged, so this is something to consider if replacing the gearbox.
The ABS, or anti-lock brake system, module is located near the brake master cylinder on a Vectra. It has four metal tubes and two electrical connectors coming from it.
