I drive one, 115ps, It's not a racer, but it's enough for family... Nissan says that it goes 12 seconds 0-100kmh, but I can get better time than that. Fuel consumption is ok, 9 liters in City, and 6-7 liters on open road. Petrol engines are made by Nissan, and diesel by Renault(I realy think that Renault make bad cars, so...) 1.5 diesel engine cost 2000 euro more than 1.6, and 2.0 diesel costs about 4000 more. So I think the best choice is 1.6, 2.0 petrol drinks lot of gas:))
Really depends on the engine. 1.5 dci will have 2 times or more range than 2.0 petrol.

There is no OBD connection on a 1990 Nissan as that is an OBD1 vehicle not OBD2. However there is a way to read the codes. https://codes.rennacs.com/Petrol-Engine/Japanese-Korean/Nissan-Engines.php
The engine number on a Nissan Elgrand is located under the hood right next to where the wiper system's pipes are. That tag contains a series of numbers which identify the engine number.
