most vehicles have a reset switch somewhere under the dash on the driver's side. if you can't find it, just stop by a dealer and ask one of the mechanics where the switch is located. these stupid things were set to come on as a service reminder to take you vehicle in for servicing. they usually turn on after a 10000 miles on the odometer. some might come on after 50000 miles. depends on manufacturer.
No reset switch on a Dodge Ram.
A Dodge Ram will have a check engine light appear when the engine needs to be serviced. You can reset this light by following the directions in your manual or by having your mechanic do it.
To reset the check engine light on a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500, you can disconnect the battery by removing the negative terminal for about 15 minutes. This will clear the engine control module's memory. Alternatively, you can use an OBD-II scanner to read the codes, clear them, and reset the light. Always ensure that the underlying issue is resolved before resetting the light to avoid further engine problems.
The light can not be reset without fixing the cause of the code that turned the light on.
a 2000 dodge ram 1500 the check engine light is on and the code says torque converter and clutch and overdrive solenoid. what do you think that the problem is?
Why? Just reset it.
That REQUIRES an ENGINE SCANNER to do that.
Turn the ignition on, engine off. Press the gas pedal to the floor three times.
A national chain auto parts store can do this for you.
Dodge doesn't use an inertia/reset switch. The fuel system is computer controlled with relays.
Turn the key on, engine off, press the gas pedal to the floor three times. Cycle key and light should be off.ok
