Remove a spark plug and crank the engine over by hand until you feel compression coming out of the spark plug hole. That is the compression stroke.
Most 350's run pretty good with timing set between 8 and 12 degrees BTDC.
take it around one more revolution, TDC is meant to be in the compression stroke and you may be in the exhaust stroke. if that does not help then you may need to remove the distributor and replace it in the right alignment.
if you are facing the truck it is on your left hand side of the motor, if you are sitting in your truck it is on the right side of the motor... the side the battery is on.
I change my oil in a 7.3 power stroke every 3000 miles no motor problems 240,000 on motor
RIGHT BESIDE THE BLOWER MOTOR UNDER PASSENGER SIDE OF DASH
The numbers on the drivers side rear of the engine right above the bellhousing are more helpful.
First, run a compression test. That will tell you if you have the cam in right. If the compression is up, check the distributor. It's quite common for a distributor to be put in "180 degrees out of phase". The distributor rotor should point to the #1 piston not JUST when it's at #1TDC, but when the piston is at the top of the compression stroke of #1TDC. Note that in a 4 cycle engine the crankshaft turns twice for every revolution of the distributor.
1500 chervrolet truck need a motor
With proper use and maintenance and repair I have seen 300,000 with no rebuild needed. In the f-350 ford the truck will not last this long
It should be right by the water pump in front of the motor, on the passenger side of the truck.
