In steps:
1. get the piston near top dead centre on the compression stroke. Easiest way to tell is to take the points cover off and just as the points open is the spot.
2. On the LHS of the motor, same side as points cover, right down bottom of the side cover there is a rubber cap ( NOT the one in the middle rear of the side cover which is clutch adjustment). The correct cap covers a bolt head and lock not. Bolt head is 10 mm metric socket, lock nut is 12 mm.
3. Loosen the 12 mm lock nut a couple of turns.
4. then loosen the 10 mm bolt a couple of turns.
5. You may / should hear a click as the spring loaded cam chain tensioner takes up the slack. - may be no click if the chain is already adjusted ok, or if the tensioner is stuck.
6. tighten the 10 mm bolt. Only use a very small spanner ( 4 inch handle) it is very easy to strip the alloy thread in the case if you over do it.
7. Now tighten the lock nut - again, small spanner is enough.
8. Put the rubber cap back on.
9. Your cam chain should be adjusted, and engine much quieter if thas was the problem.

how do i check the timing on my 02 honda 350 atv
The timing chain tensioner bolt sticks out the back left side of the cylinder head. Take the timing chain cover off on the left side of the motor too see the inside to the chain tensioner.

To set the timing on a 1987 Honda FourTrax 350 ATV, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Remove the timing inspection cover and locate the timing mark on the flywheel, then align it with the mark on the engine case while rotating the crankshaft. Adjust the timing by loosening the stator bolts and rotating the stator until the timing marks align, then tighten the bolts securely. Finally, replace the inspection cover and start the engine to check for proper timing.
too much slak. chain could have kinks from being strectched too far .sliders could be worn out .sproket could have groves in it
Yes, the 2007 Lexus RX 350 is equipped with a timing chain rather than a timing belt. Timing chains are generally more durable and require less frequent replacement compared to timing belts. However, it’s still important to maintain the engine properly to ensure the longevity of the timing chain.
