First question is: Why do you think it needs adjusting? These cars are fitted with self adjusting rear calipers.
Most likely scenario is that the rear pads are stuck in the calipers and both rear calipers need stripping and cleaning.
Next likely scenario is to be found whilst cleaning the brakes is that one or both handbrake cables are stiff or seized.
MY space star had one rear cable rubber boot displaced during a previous pad change, this allowed water into the rear end and caused the cable to seize partly "on".
My advice is; if you know what you are doing and can service the brakes, carry out the brake service and most of your problems will be identified.
If you are unsure, get professional help.
To adjust the handbrake on a Mitsubishi Space Star 1.300, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the rear wheels are chocked. Locate the handbrake adjustment mechanism, usually found under the center console or near the rear brakes. Tighten or loosen the adjustment nut until the handbrake lever has the proper amount of resistance and engages securely without excessive travel. Finally, test the handbrake by pulling it up and ensuring the rear wheels are effectively locked.

The diagnostic connector on a Mitsubishi Space Star is located in the center console under the cup holder. To access it simply pull straight up on the cup holder.

Handbrake adjustment instruction for Mitsubishi Colt CZ2 2006 There is a rear cup holder behind the handbrake. get a hoover with just the hose attachment.. suck up the cover plate on the inside of the cup holder. this will reveal two star type screws.. (not phillips) simply unscrew these and the whole cup holder comes of if you gently pull towards the rear of the vehicle. you will see two cables linked by a floating balance plate. This in turn is directly linked to the handbrake mechanism. make sure the car is on a flat surface and in gear to prevent it rolling you can also put something to stop the wheels rolling if you want to be uber safety conscious next release the handbrake to the floor. finally, using a 10 mm ring spanner tighten the nut on the balance plate clockwise. !!!! Warning!!!! stop occasionally to check the handbrake is not too tight. four or five inches of travel on the handbrake when applied is ample. Also, when you think the adjustment is complete and where you want it, release the handbrake again and make sure there is a little bit of play in both cables otherwise you will be driving with the handbrake slightly on all the time...NOT GOOD!!! then do a little test drive... and hey ho! bobs your sisters brother. Hope this helped.
The cambelt change interval is every 5 years or 54'000 miles

One reason why a Mitsubishi Star Wagon will stall when accelerating is bad spark plugs. Another reason is a bad oxygen sensor or the throttle position sensor.
The light stays on whenever the computer has lost power, ie fuse. Or when the computer detects a malfunction and sets a trouble code.
