It is not possible unless you can change atomic elements into different atomic elements. And if you could do that, you would be too busy converting sodium and chlorine into platinum and gold.
No, they have an air suspension which means air bags.
Don't bother, replace with regular coil springs
Air springs are just "bags" of air used in the place of metal coil springs. They can be computer controlled or manually controlled to alter ride height by allowing more air in or out of the "bags." Check out this website if you want to know more: http://www.easystreetair.com/faq.htmHope this helps,Alexis Greene
No. If you shut it off, the back end will ride on the ground. The air ride is the suspension, the air bags replace coil springs. And, if you ever have major problems with it, look up strutmasters.com, and just replace the bags with real coil springs.
Coil springs are spiral. Leaf springs are flat blades of steel stacked on top of each other. Air springs are bags of air. Leaf springs are cheaper and carry more weight (hence often rear springs are leaf). Coil springs are wound tighter at the bottom so that their spring constant is greater (this is to make a linear force after compensating for gravity).
yes,you can,but I personally think the ride quality suffers- just my opinion
you have a leak in one of your air bags, so neither side will air up until you change them or convert to springs or do some patch work, my suggestion is new air struts. one or both air struts are worn out.
Lincoln Town Cars are built on the same platform as the Ford Crown Victoria (the Panther Platform). To convert your Lincoln from air springs to coil springs, simply replace the Lincoln air aprings with the coil springs for a Ford Crown Victoria. (Depending on the ride you want, you can choose to either install the standard coil springs from a civilian-equiped Crown Victoria or you can install the coil springs used on the Police Interceptor version of the Crown Vic.) In addition to the coil springs, you will also need to purchase the rubber insulators to install between the car's frame and the coil spring. Simply remove your Lincoln's air spring system and install the new rubber insulators and coil springs. Many websites have detailed instructions and most "shade tree" mechanics can do the job themselves. The cost of the parts should cost no more than $125.00.
I have a 1994 towncar and I took the bags off mine and put springs on them. Ford sell a conversion kit. Its really not a kit its just two springs that fit where the bags are. It ran about 250 for the kit. And my mechanic had them on in no time. Some places charge alot but its simple. Buy the kit from Ford and do it yourself. Also you can find the after market bags on eBay for around 80 bucks.
yes, I put Springs on my car And removed my air ride bags Springs from a crown vic with springs fit right on, no problems rides nice too, Mike
There could be several reasons. First check the air pump. Start with the fuses, then the switch in the trunk. Then check the pump with direct current. If the pump works with a bypass, then check the leveling sensor at the rear suspension. If you find that it will be an expensive job to have the air suspension, then go the alternate route. Check out" Strutmasters " in the net. The air bags can be replaced with coil springs at a very low cost and never have problems again.Should you decide to replace the air bags with coil springs, you comfort of ride will be greatly reduced. Typically air ride suspension automatically adjusts for changes in the road.
My air bags were leaking, I purchased the coil springs for $189.00 from strutmasters.com and found a mechanic to install for $125.00 in southern indiana. Make sure your mechanic knows what he is doing.
