the easiest way is just to go to a garage, because if you fiddle with the wires and muck up the lights then you will have to pay for them aswell as the indicator lights
You would probly have to do something with the wires i bet you have a short somewhere if there only working sometimes
I guess it has something to do with the indicator that you have a bulb failure on the dash. Just more wires to cut when they get in the way closing the boot lid.
pulll the fule indicator straight up and out. remove the wires and reverse this procedure when installing the new indicator.
First. It sounds like you have some wires in the wrong place. At no time should anything you do concerning your rear lights affect your wipers. You also probably have a short circuit or a broken wire somewhere.
check your ground wires...they might be loose or detached.

I would check the wires just behind the light. I had the same problem and the wires were broken a little just wiggle them as the lights are on.

its on the end of the wires just above the air filter housing unit
whats the color circuit for the blinkers an break lights?
