The problem is that the plastic piece that attaches to the handle has broken. This part can be diffiult to find. I took off the interior door panel (be careful not to break clips)
I used two bolts that fit the pull rod, 1- 3/16" eye bolt between them, placing the eye bolt through the door handle then a washer, a locking washer and nut to attach it to the handle
Make sure not to tighten too much and the handle works great
