To fix the security system on a 1992 Camaro, first, check the owner's manual for troubleshooting tips specific to the system. Inspect the wiring and connections for any damage, and test the ignition switch, as a faulty switch can trigger security issues. If the system relies on a key or fob, ensure it is functioning properly and replace the battery if needed. If problems persist, consider consulting a professional mechanic or a specialist in automotive security systems.
If you know the value of the resistor you can cut the wires going to the lock cylinder and solder in a resistor of the correct value.
To bypass the VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System) in a 1992 Camaro, you can cut the two wires leading to the ignition cylinder and connect them directly. This allows the vehicle to start without the VATS key. However, it's important to note that bypassing the system can compromise your vehicle's security and may not be legal in all areas. Always consider consulting a professional or finding a proper fix instead of a bypass.
"The security resistor on your key may be dirty or dead. Try a new key from GM. It will come programmed right from the dealer. Another possibility is that your ignition key also has a resistor in it. That can only mean that there is a passkey system such as the one used in a 1994 Buick Regal Custom. When the passkey system fails, it costs about $350 to replace. However, for a Camaro, it's worth the money. Take it to a garage to test the system." I own a 1991 Camaro that has the passkey, and I trip it accidentally a lot. When this is done, go under the dash and there is a brown/black/purple wire with a black connector. Unplug this, then plug it back in and the system is reset and the car should start.
Nonfunctioning door locks and security system can because by a bad fuse. Replace the security system for use with a new fuse. Most of the time this will fix the problem.

To fix the horn on a 1988 Camaro, check the horn fuse first. Then check the horn relay, wiring, horn, and switch to find the problem.
I wouldn't fix it if i was you.....I have a 2000 alero, and the security system (passlock) keeps it from starting often, and it seems to be a big problem with them. So if your security system isn't working but the car is running fine I wouldn't mess with it..
