First use clean water to flush the system then a mixture of 50% clean water and 50% antifreeze to refill the system if you were able to drain the entire system. The cooling system in an average vehicle will hold aprox 10 to 12 quarts. The block drains can be difficult to remove to drain the block dry so if that is your case, after you have flushed the system with clean water add 4 qts of straight antifreeze to the radiator. This will mix with the clean water in the engine block giving you a 50/50 mix. If you need to add more coolant after that use the 50/50 mix.
DO NOT FLUSH the coolant system on a northstar. Drain the coolant, replace with 50/50 Dexcool and fresh clean water, and you're good to go. Especially NEVER NEVER buy a "Coolant Flush" at a dealer or quicky-lube place. All you'll get is the previous sucker's engine gunk pumped in to your engine.

Its a 50/50 chance because if you have the 3.0 engine but this can be checked without pulling the engine and any machine shop can help you............

If you are talking about the low coolant light then it is just low of coolant. If you are talking about the coolant temperature light, then the engine is overheating. This car is 7 years old. Have the cooling system serviced. Drain the coolant and flush the system. Install a new thermostat, and add a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water.

any ford dealer or good aftermarket store like auto zone will have block heater be aware the block heater as it is called, actually installs in the oil cooler on lower side of engine the heater will cost about 50 bucks and the wire harness is about 80 bucks u could also go to a wrecker and get used one
go to the auto store and buy some prestone flush. instructions are on the back. basically you drain your radiator, pour in the flush, refill the system with water, run the engine with the heater on high for about 15 minutes, then drain the system again, refill it with 50/50 coolant.
