timing for 1984 350 is 18436572
the timing or the firing order? the timing gears have 2 dots that line up when the timing is correct at top dead center. the firing order 18436572 and the cylinders are numbered as following, driver side 1357 and pass side 2468
You have to set your camshaft at a position of firing at number piston ,that is if the camshaft gear does not have a visible timing marks and in relationship with the crankshaft position it has to be position number one piston at TDC
1342. Number one is the cylinder closest to the timing belt.
1,3,4,2 Number one is at timing cover closest to the distributor.
1.8.4.3.6.5.7.2 standard Chevy timing/firing order. the #1 on the distributor will be pointing @ the #1 cyl when @ top dead center.( front drivers side.
no ( for example my 1991 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 liter V8 engine timing was ten degrees before top dead center ( BTDC ) and the firing order was 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 )
firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 clockwise timing is 6 degrees before top dead center @ 700rpm
Ensure the timing is set on the correct revolution, 1st cylinder piston should be top dead center, with the inlet valve closed and outlet valve towards opening. Timing mark on pulley should be at center or at 0 (zero). If engine has a mechanical distributor, the rotor should be pointing towards the number 1 spark lead, in the correct firing order. Ensure valve clearances are correct while cold. Then readjusted when warm.
first run number one cylinder to top dead center on the compression stroke. then set the distributer till the firing tip on the roder is pointing directly at the number 1 spark plug wire on the distributer cap.
do you mean firing order or timing? firing order is 1,3,4,2 timing is 16 degrees =/- 2 btdc @ 750 rpm =/- 50
Distributor- 4-3-2-1- timing belt 34 12 (looking at distributor firing order)
