The toughest part is working on it with the engine in the car. If you can't remove the engine, it will take longer and cause more cuss words.

Use a hammer and screwdriver to remove the old plug. Sometimes you can push one side in to get the other side to swivel out. Sometimes you end up taking the plug out in pieces because it's so rusty. A pair of channel lock pliers can be helpful for prying out the plug.

Put Permatex or shellac compound on the edges to seal it. Use a large socket that just fits in the cup to drive the new plug into position.

How do you install rear freeze plugs on a Chevy 350?

You need access to the back of the block, so either remove the engine from the car, or remove the transmission. You can usually use a screwdriver and hammer to drive the plug in, which will cause half of it to tip out, which you can get ahold of with channel lock pliers and yank out. To install the new plug, go to the auto parts store and buy the rubber ones that are screwed in place.
