If your John Deere seat malfunctioned, you may want to contact the company and see if they can't refund you or replace some parts. Since John Deere sells such reliable products, I would imagine their customer service would be great as well. I would also stick to buying John Deere parts for your John Deere so your warranty isn't violated.
The John Deere 5420 is a good tractor to own because it is very quick, great for mowing large yards, and is a good deal. Although there are newer models, the 5420 is a great model to stick with.
