1. Unbolt the retaining screws and remove the protective shield from the fuel filter.
2. Place a pan under the delivery pipe to catch the dripping fuel and SLOWLY loosen the union bolt to bleed off the fuel pressure. The fuel system is under pressure. Release pressure slowly and contain spillage. Observe "''no smoking/no open flame precautions''.
3. Remove the union bolt and drain the remaining fuel.
4. Disconnect and plug the inlet line.
5. Unbolt and remove the fuel filter.
To install:
When tightening the fuel line bolts to the fuel filter, you must use a torque wrench. The tightening torque is very important, as under or over tightening may cause fuel leakage. Insure that there is no fuel line interference and that there is sufficient space between the fuel lines and other components.
1. Coat the flare unit, union nut and all bolt threads with engine oil.
2. Hand-tighten the inlet line to the fuel filter.
3. Install the fuel filter and then tighten the inlet line nut to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm).
4. Reconnect the delivery pipe using new gaskets and then tighten the union bolt to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm).
5. Run the engine for a short period and check for any fuel leaks.
6. Install the protective shield.

To replace the fuel filter on a 1990 Toyota Cressida, first, relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls. Next, locate the fuel filter, which is typically found along the fuel line under the car or near the engine compartment. Disconnect the inlet and outlet fuel lines from the filter, taking care to catch any spilled fuel. Finally, install the new filter in the same orientation as the old one, reconnect the fuel lines, and replace the fuel pump fuse before starting the engine to check for leaks.

To replace the oil filter on a 1990 Toyota 4Runner, first ensure the engine is cool and then lift the vehicle safely if needed. Locate the oil filter, usually found near the engine block, and use an oil filter wrench to unscrew it. Before installing the new filter, apply a bit of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new filter, then screw it on by hand until snug. Finally, refill the engine oil and check for leaks after starting the engine.
