To replace a heater core, first ensure the vehicle is cool and disconnect the battery. Then, drain the coolant and remove the dashboard components as needed to access the heater core. Disconnect the heater hoses and any mounting hardware, then carefully remove the old heater core and install the new one, reversing the process to reassemble everything. Make sure to refill the coolant and check for leaks before testing the system.

If they disconnected the heater core, it means it was leaking. Get a manual on your car from the parts store and it will show you how to replace the heater core also

I would recommend purchasing a shop manual for that vehicle if you intend on DIY the heater core. The manual will show you step by step how to. It will be worth the investment.
I will need the exact year, make and model to help you...............
after over 200 nuts, bolts, and screws i extracted the heater core. ordered it from the auto parts store and it was the wrong one. all previous and later models show the same part.Mazda quest and ford vans show the same thing. looks like i might have to work with the dealer!this seems to be a common problem. the dealer shows no recall or campaign for this problem. be careful when ordering and ensure you are ordering the right part. two other auto parts stores show the same thing but isn't Evan close. had to remove the dash and metal support bar to get it out.there might be a better way but im an electrician not a mechanic. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
That is impossible without knowing exactly the vehicle you are working on. Basically you just have to remove enough of the dash in order to gain access to the heater core. This is why replacing a heater core is a very challenging repair. It is so very labor intensive and very expensive if done by a dealer. I know of no site that has detailed instructions. Go slow, take your time, and you can do this.
Sounds like the heater core is plugged. Have a competent garage flush the radiator and heater core, then refill with fresh coolant. Should cure the problem.
I can't create diagrams, but I can explain how a heater works in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The heater system uses engine coolant, which is warmed by the engine. This coolant circulates through the heater core, a small radiator located inside the dashboard. A blower fan then pushes air over the heater core, warming it before it enters the cabin, providing heat to the interior of the vehicle.
