Yes, a pocket hose can be used to drain a water heater, provided it has the appropriate fittings to connect to the drain valve of the heater. However, the flow rate may be slower compared to a standard garden hose, depending on the diameter and length of the pocket hose. It's essential to ensure that the hose is rated for hot water and can handle the temperature without damage. Always take necessary safety precautions when draining a water heater.
I'm having the same problem with the same model. The heater was working fine until I had a new radiator installed recently. I've been told that crud from the old radiator has probably clogged the heater core. From the engine, remove the hoses going into the fire wall. Turn your ignigtion on but do not crank. Turn the heater to on. Take a garden hose, preferably the cone shaped, twist action kind, and put the tip in the end of one heater hose and turn on the water but not too high because too much pressure could blow a hole in the heater core. The water should break up the debris. Repeat through the other hose.
