The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve on a 1990 S10 Blazer regulates the amount of air entering the engine when it is idling. It is controlled by the engine's computer, which adjusts the valve position based on various factors, such as engine temperature and load. When the IAC is functioning properly, it helps maintain a stable idle speed, ensuring smooth engine operation. If it fails, it can lead to issues like erratic idling or stalling.
