The 2008 Ford Ranger , 2.3 liter Dual Over Head Cam , four cylinder engine
has a timing CHAIN
Do you really need to change your timing CHAIN on a 2003 Ford Ranger 3.0 L already ? How many miles have you got on it ?=)
Only the 2.5 Liter 4 cylinder has a timing belt. Replace it at 120,000 miles. The V6 has a timing chain.
Ford's scheduled maintenance guide for the 1997 Ford Ranger states to INSPECT the timing belt ( 2.3 L only ) at 120,000 miles. Wvafan , another contributor to this website and also a Ford mechanic/technician likes to change the timing belt at 90,000 miles I believe . ( Gates and Dayco websites - they manufacture timing belts - recommend every 60,000 miles )
change the plugs at 60,000 miles.
OEM recommends every 75k miles. I have 170k on mine and have not had a problem.
I checked Fords scheduled maintainence guide and the Gates website ( they make timing belts etc. ) for the 2000 Ford Ranger , and both sites show to INSPECT the timing belt at 120,000 miles and CHANGE IF NECESSARY for the 2.5 liter - 4 cylinder engine in a 2000 Ford Ranger
Only the 4 cylinder has a timing belt. On a 1983-97 replace it at 60,000 miles=On a 1998 up, replace at 120,000 miles.=
60000 miles
2.3 L engine in a 1998 Ranger???? The 2.5 L cam belt should be changed at 120,000 miles.
It has a timing belt. Mine broke after 140K miles.
at how many miles is it before you change your timing belt
Toyota service recommends an old and oil filter change every 5,000 miles or every 6 months.
