To calculate the cost of traveling 454 kilometers at 16 miles per gallon (mpg), first convert kilometers to miles: 454 km is approximately 282.5 miles. Next, determine how many gallons of fuel you will need by dividing the distance by the fuel efficiency: 282.5 miles ÷ 16 mpg = about 17.66 gallons. Finally, multiply the number of gallons by the price per gallon of fuel to find the total cost; for example, if fuel costs $3 per gallon, the total would be approximately $53.00.
