key on engine off around 40 psi, 30psi and over good at idle, good idea to leave guage on after shutting off to see if system is leaking down. a bad injector or pressure regulator can cause this leakdown condition and lead to hard starting. I'm not a pro but have some experience with these trucks good luck:)
I BELIEVE that is 39 PSI
the pressure should be between 35 and 42 psi in the fuel rail. It has a valve like the one for air in the tires to measure the fuel pressure.... MOA.
The fuel pressure should be 45 psi.

The fuel filter should be an inline type. There is a clip on ache end. Pull the clips off and the filter can be removed. Be careful that fuel does not spray on you, as the fuel is under pressure.
The 1988 model has 2 fuel pumps. A low pressure fuel pump is located in the tank and a high pressure fuel pump is mounted to the frame on the driver's side, under the cab.
Fuel pressure on a 2002 Ford F150 4.2 V6 should be around 40 PSI. When pressure drops too low, fuel is not vaporized properly.

I just bought a fuel pressure gauge and it comes with a book. In that book every make and model imaginable. I have a Ford Taurus and the pressure for yours should be 40 psi
