You do not pour oil into an ac compressor, It goes in just like the "freon",,,under pressure. You can but an oil charge kit from any good auto parts store but only use it if you absolutely know it needs oil. Too much will ruin the compressor and clog the separator.
Remove the compressor and pour it in. If its making noise its probably to late and you will need to replace it.
For a 1998 Chevy, the AC compressor typically requires about 6 ounces of refrigerant oil, but it's important to check the specific service manual for your model for exact specifications. The oil is usually added to the compressor during the installation of the new compressor or when servicing the AC system. To add the oil, you would typically remove the compressor, pour the oil into the compressor's designated port, and then reassemble the system. Always ensure to follow manufacturer guidelines for the best results.
To refill the AC compressor oil, first, locate the compressor and identify the oil fill port, typically marked with a cap. Use a vacuum pump to remove any existing oil and contaminants before adding new oil. Carefully pour the recommended type and amount of oil into the compressor using a funnel or oil injector. Finally, reassemble any components and test the system to ensure proper operation.
A reciprocating compressor is one in which a piston or diaphragm moves in a reciprocating motion. The compressor used in the AC system of a Saturn is NOT a reciprocating compressor. It is most likely a "rotary vane" compressor.
