Worn piston rings, bad valve seals,
There is nothing to worry about with water in the exhaust. However water in your oil could suggest leaky gaskets. Depends where in the oil system or engine it is.
engine burning oil( white or blueish exhaust smoke ), water in oil, oil in water, water in exhaust.
An exhaust valve(s) staying open upon compression.
I would say it is the exhaust system.
Oil coming out of the exhaust of a 1996 ZR580 snowmobile could indicate several issues. One common reason is an overly rich fuel mixture, which can lead to incomplete combustion and oil being expelled with the exhaust. Another possibility is that there may be a problem with the oil injection system, causing too much oil to mix with the fuel. Additionally, worn piston rings or cylinder walls could be allowing oil to seep into the combustion chamber, resulting in oil being burned and expelled through the exhaust.
yes it can because oil cal leak into the exhaust system and contaminate the catalytic converter
The water you see comming from the exhaust is condensation. A by product of the combustion process is water and until the exhaust system gets hot enough to maintain the water in the exhaust in a gaseous state it will condense (fall out of the exhaust stream) in the exhaust system. After the engine gets warm and heats up the exhaust system the water does not condense in the exhaust system anymore and is dirrected into the atmosphere. P.K.
Oil leaks in the exhaust manifold can be caused by several factors, including worn or damaged gaskets that fail to create a proper seal, leading to oil seeping into the exhaust system. Additionally, cracks in the manifold itself due to thermal stress or corrosion can allow oil to escape. Poor maintenance, such as infrequent oil changes or using incorrect oil types, can also contribute to oil leaks. Lastly, excessive engine pressure or oil overfill can exacerbate the issue, forcing oil out through weak points in the system.
That is condensation due to the exhaust system being cold and the heat from the engine makes the exhaust system / pipes sweat. As the exhaust system heats up then that will stop. Now you said WATER not antifreeze. If you had engine coolant running out of the exhaust then it would be the color of the antifreeze and it would be steaming WHITE and then you would have an engine problem, MAYJOR. You said water. Drive it you have no problems. That is normal.
if the smoke color is blue, then you are burning oil. look for an oil leak near or on the exhaust system.

Oil spraying from the exhaust pipe can indicate several issues, typically related to engine problems. A common cause is worn piston rings or valve seals, which can allow engine oil to enter the combustion chamber and be burned off, resulting in oil mist being expelled through the exhaust. Another potential cause is a malfunctioning PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system, leading to excessive pressure in the crankcase and forcing oil out of the exhaust. It's essential to address these issues promptly to avoid further engine damage.
