On a 350 Chevy engine, the number 1 spark plug wire typically connects to the terminal at the front of the distributor cap, which is usually located on the left side when facing the engine from the front. The firing order for a small-block Chevy is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, so after number 1, the subsequent wires should be placed in this order around the cap in a clockwise direction. It's always a good idea to refer to a specific service manual for your engine model for confirmation and visual references.
