The 2001 Chevy Blazer does have an ignition security system that is controlled by the computer in the vehicle. The light might come on because of an error that is coming up in the computer due to a key problem or an ignition problem. This is a common issue with the 2000 and 2001 Blazer.

your battery is dead charge it i do not recommend a jump if it won't crank ,brefore you do that check the teminal connector if it is cracked ,broken or loose. After you start, turn of the car ,then start it again but watch the dash board light to see the alternator signal light which is the battery sign.if it light up the alternator is fine if it does not you may have about an hour and a half to get to a mechanic before your car dies again.
