The timing marks are at the front passanger side of the engine on the timing chain cover. It helps to mark the line on the balancer with chalk or white paint to make it more visable. To ease reaching the timing marks you can use Spak plug #6 on Pontiac V8s it is 360 deg opposite of #1 and will give you the correct timing. (Each cylinder only fires every 720 degrees of crankshaft rotation, so the timing light only shows every other time the mark on the balancer goes past). Pontiac used a removable sheet metal timing tab after about 1976 or so. They are sometimes missing if the engine has been disassembled. They are available from the aftermarket. How do you replace timing chain marks on a 94 Cadillac Eldorado?

To replace the timing chain marks on a 1994 Cadillac Eldorado, first, ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke of the first cylinder. Remove the timing chain cover and inspect the timing chain and gears for wear. Align the marks on the timing gears; the crankshaft mark should point at the zero on the timing cover, and the camshaft mark should align with the corresponding mark on the cam gear. Reassemble the components, ensuring everything is properly torqued and aligned before replacing the cover.

If iSet timing on an 95 eagle talon line up the timing marks and the engine seem to be running goodand engine light came on timing skip tooth?

If the engine light on your 1995 Eagle Talon indicates a timing issue after you set the timing and aligned the marks, it's possible that the timing belt has skipped a tooth or is misaligned. This can cause the engine to run poorly or produce error codes. Double-check the timing alignment and inspect the condition of the timing belt for wear or damage. If everything appears fine, consider scanning for specific trouble codes to diagnose any further issues.
