The most common cause is the engine overheating.
A bad head gasket or a cracked head will do that.
bad head gasket , warped head , etc.
Possible BLOWN HEAD GASKET!!! BAD NEWS
Yes, that is possible. But, know that if you have a blown head gasket you will do serious engine damage if you continue to drive the vehicle. You need to have this looked at by a trusted mechanic. Do not continue to drive the vehicle.
you have a bad head gasket. turn the car on and while it is idleing go to the back of the car and put your hand about 1/4 on an inch away from the exaust tip. if you feel your hand get sucked in every now and again than you have a bad head gasket or a bad intake valve
The head gasket creates a seal between the engine block/cylinder and the cylinder head. Since the pressures and temperatures are so great, the head gasket must be more substantial than other gaskets. It will also go bad much easier, especially if the engine overheats and the head warps, even a slight amount. It is placed in between the gas compression chamber .A head gasket is a gasket that sits between the engine block and cylinder head(s) in an internal combustion engine.
Blown head gasket or cracked head or a crack/leak of the oil into the water system or other area internal or external. Oil pump can go bad, usually gradually, or stopped up pick up screen in oil pan.
Bad plugs, or plug wires. Blown head gasket, or burnt valve. If you are loosing coolant with no apparent leak you may have a blown head gasket. Sweet smell at the exhaust is another sign of blown gasket. If none of that applies, replace the plugs and go from there.
not normal but head gaskets can go bad anytime. Sure it's the head gasket? White smoke out the tail pipe, coolant goes low( but not leaking on ground) & compression low in one or 2 cyl.
Yes. A blown headgasket usually causes the engine to run noticeably different and needs immediate attention. However, A head gasket that is going BAD may let oil or coolant leak out around the outside of the head (just a wet looking spot at first) where the head touches the block. Also, a slight bit of oil might show up around the inside of the radiator where the radiator caps seals. Also, a slight bit of coolant might leak into the engine causing it to look greyish white on the dip-stick. The problem with finding a BAD head gasket is that it might not get any worse for five years, or it might "blow" in 5 minutes.
That is a common problem with the Vortec engines, First place the gasket is not made of much as you can see. Antifreeze eats the gasket up over time. The ORANGE antifreeze is BAD. If the Intake was OVER TORQUED that will cause it to leak/ Go bad too.
Two things can cause white smoke. 1. Burning oil either from bad rings, bad valve seals, bad head gasket 2. Coolant getting into the combustion chamber through cracked head, block or bad head gasket. This can be checked by putting a preasure tester on the coolant system and doing a leakdown test to see if it will hld pressure. Also go to the tail pipe and smell the fumes. Anti freeze usually emits a sweet smell. Are you addding oil or coolant frequently? If so the one you are adding most is usually the culprit
