I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my newly purchased '96! I've been researching the issue and it seems that the easiest and least expensive fix is to replace the guage cluster (the half-circle compartment in the dash with all the guages in it)with another one, possibly from a junk yard. Of course you'll want to replace the junk yard odometer with your own, to keep the mileage as accurate as possible. I'm about to test this theory out myself and see if it actually does repair the problem... I'll keep you posted with the results.
Check the fuses, if the fuse is blown you may have a short in the running light circuit.
The lights are computer controlled. The under hood computer can set codes and keep the lights from working.
If the speedo stops also, it is the speed sensor. If just the odometer, take it to a speedo shop.
if the cluster still lights up but the speedo still inop possible cause is the speed sensor in the transmition
the fuse that controls the interior lights, running board,an rear wiper is blown. it is a 15amp fuse in the panel. Also, try the cluster dimmer position since it controls the running board lights and exterior mirror lights as well. This dimmer is located next to the headlight switch.Good luck!
All of these parts run on electricity, and for all of them to fail would be bad. Bad or burnt wiring could cause them not to work, or a alternator going bad could cause them not to work as well.
Bad bulbs can be the cause of your reverse lights not working on your 1999 Toyota Tacoma. A problem with the reverse switch or bad wires can also be the cause of your reverse lights not working.
If a Passat 04 TDI's indicator lights are not working, check the fuse. A blown fuse can cause the lights to stop working.
there should be a fuse under the hood or under your fuse block that probably blew
A blown fuse can cause the dashlights and taillights to stop working on a 2001 Dodge 1500.
fuse, bulbs
there should be a electronic plug on your gearbox, unplug that and screw out the sensor, but make sure its not the reverse sensor, if its the st or sport then its the abs sensor but that wil make you dash lights come on and show no milleage
