Do you mean the ignition key or the ignition switch? The ignition switch is located on the top of the steering column above the brake pedal. It's held on by 2 bolts. It's a lot easier to work on with the column removed. If you mean the ignition key. You need to remove the steering wheel, lock plate and turn signal switch. The key tumbler will either be held in by a screw or a tab on the tumbler. There are several sources on the Internet with detailed procedures.
Please provide more info on what you mean by 'ignition'. Reason is that there are more specific items such as ignition coil (pack), ignition switch, etc...

It means that it is time for a new ignition switch. The dealer is the most likely (and usually the most expensive) source. You might also try a junkyard. Drew
I own a 2003 GX470 and assuming it's the same for all first generation GX, there is a switch (black with white raise letters) labeled "2nd STRT" about 2.5 inches below the ignition switch. You can activate/de-activate with this switch and the light on the dashboard should correspond appropriately.

I think you mean the key, Either the key is bad or the ignition switch is bad.
