An evaporator box typically contains the evaporator coil, which absorbs heat from the surrounding air or refrigerant, allowing it to cool the air or facilitate the refrigeration process. It also houses a fan to circulate air over the coil, along with insulation to minimize energy loss. Additionally, the evaporator box may include a drain pan to collect condensation that forms during the cooling process.
The Evaporator is behind the glove box
No, the evaporator box and heater box are not the same. The evaporator box is part of the air conditioning system, where refrigerant absorbs heat from the cabin air to cool it down. In contrast, the heater box is part of the heating system, where hot coolant from the engine heats the air before it is blown into the cabin. Each serves a distinct function in regulating the vehicle's temperature.
The evaporator is in the A/C heater box under the dash.
if it has dual air, there are two. One on top of the evaporator box behind the passenger side airbag and the other down below the evaporator box.
On my 2006 fusion there is no tube. The evaporator box has a short nipple that directly exits outh through the firewall towards the front of the vehicle. Impossible to get to from outside... Peel the carpet back on the passenger side and you will see the bottom of the evaporator box.
behind the glove box
If it's for the front evaporator the box is underneath the dash board. You have to completely remove the dashboard in order to remove the evaporator case on a 1996 Town & Country.
remove glove box. disconnect harnesses and remove evaporator and thermostat is behind it. remove glove box. disconnect harnesses and remove evaporator and thermostat is behind it.
The evap itself is about $100.
the evaporator is located in the hvac box that sits behind the dash, it also holds the heater core, the blend air door, and the mode door....the dash has to be pulled out to get to the box.....not an easy job...
The expansion valve is located inside the evaporator core housing on the evaporator core. If you see the large and small pipes coming through the firewall on the passenger side of the engine compartment and trace them into the plastic box behind the glove box, you will find the evaporator core inside this box and the expansion valve is the little aluminum block that is in between those pipes and the evaporator core. It should have a little quarter- like bell on the rear of it. Hope this helps and is in time.
The expansion valve is located in the lines connecting the evaporator core which is located inside the evaporator housing behind the dash and the glove box.
