I'm glad you asked. Three things happen actually. the first thing is you need to find the part number for that part. second call a local parts store and place an order for that part. third, replace the missing part. you could also re-attach it if its not broken.
Simply unscrew the air intake hose from the resonator box. Then look on all 4 sides of the resonator for some bolts. Use a ratchet with an extension to unscrew the bolts, and it pops right off. Did it on my trailblazer to change thee spark plugs (located underneath the resonator box). Hope this helps!
To replace the air box resonator on a Ford Escape, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, then remove any clamps or screws securing the resonator to the air intake system. Carefully detach the resonator from the air box and intake tube, and replace it with the new resonator, ensuring all connections are secure. Finally, reconnect the battery terminal and check for any air leaks.

a resonator restricts the sound in your exhaust. removing the resonator will give it a deeper sound. i would suggest changing the entire exhaust system and leaving he resonator off which would make a louder/meaner sound. leaving it on would silence the idle but when you rev it really high it would still be loud.
you can't use it
