Dash illumination brightness control switch is turned off or the fuse is blown.
first thing i would check would be all the fuses. then the light switch
I had this problem in my SL. It's the glue on the interior door panels breaking away from the doors causing the smell. Solution was having interior door panel replaced.
I have the same problem, and have been told there is a switch that controls the brightness. I haven't found it yet, so if you do. Can you tell me where it is please!
My '96 Mercedes C220 has a constant beep in the dashboard and there is no lights that indicate a problem Anyone got an answer for this???
There is a knob on your dashboard that you can turn to set the brightness of your dash lights and interior lights. If you have this knob turned all the way down, the interior light will not come on when you open the doors, and your dashboard lights will be dark. If this is not the solution to your problem, look for a blown fuse in your fuse box.
how do you prevent or cure a shorting problem with the dashboard clocks
are you sure the lower brake lights your talking about aren't tail lights. That's my guess. Check in the fuse box for a fuse labeled dash, illumination, parking or something to that effect.

Renault Clio 2 electric problem with dashboard, THE LIGHT ON THE DASH IS NOT ILLUMINATING
PO443 is an indication of a problem with an indicator lamp illumination. There are no drivability issues with this code, but safety could be an problem at night.
You don't list a year so I will give you a general solution. Many vehicles have a " body control module" or "illumination control module" when one of these malfunctions many systems will be affected.
