Based on your desctiption of the problem, there are several possible causes. Some which I can recall follow. It is possible that the "headlight" switch has become defective. Another possibility is that a wiring harness connector has become "unplugged," or possibly, water or some other liquid has gotten into a connector and caused current flow inhibiting CORROSION ON the connector CONTACTS. Another possibility is that a wire[s] has been cut, broken, or pulled apart. There are possibly OTHER causes which I cannot recall.

I just had the same problem in my '97 Nissan pickup. Both headlights stopped working at the same time. I went through some hoops, including trying a new headlight switch, but it turned out to be some corrosion in the plug for the fusible link that bolts onto the positive terminal of the battery. I cleaned that out and it is working fine again.
This happened to me . Was the switch when you turn on the headlights, not sure what it was called.

wow, thanks for nothing. since there isn't a category for pre 95 Toyota pickups on this site, we have to assume that 93 pickup is what they meant. as far as the headlights, i believe you have to take the whole assembly out, the bulbs don't look like they can be replace seperately on my 94 at least. here's a link to a site that explains it better...http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=281540&highlight=headlight Toyota didnt make tacomas until 1995
In a 1991 Toyota pickup, the taillight fuse is located in the fuse box, which is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side. You should look for a fuse labeled specifically for the taillights or rear lights; it may also be combined with other lighting circuits. Always refer to the owner's manual for the exact location and specifications of the fuse.
