The rear axle oil level plug on a Ford 4500 backhoe is located about 2" above the right hand running board near the rear end of the running board. This is 5 or 6" directly behind the transmission level plug and is located on the round access cover plate. If you have a cab, the plate under the seat (4 bolts) will need to be removed in order to replace the level plug unless you can find someone with small fingers to reinstall it for you. Mine took about 23L to fill from empty.

To check the transmission fluid in a Ford 4500 backhoe, first ensure the engine is off and the vehicle is on a level surface. Locate the transmission dipstick, usually found near the rear of the machine; remove it, wipe it clean, and reinsert it to check the fluid level. If the fluid is low, use the appropriate type of transmission fluid and add it through the dipstick tube until it reaches the recommended level. Always consult the owner’s manual for specific fluid type and capacity details.

The brake reservoir on a Ford 555E backhoe is typically located on or near the hydraulic control panel, often mounted on the left side of the machine.
