I believe it is threaded into the transaxle at the rear of the mower
on the brake
Don't. It's there for a reason.
Check your seat safety switch. Just a guess..
Because the seat switch is faulty and needs replacing.
You should never by pass any safety sensors on your lawn mower. BUT :for testing your brake sensor you can try taking the wires off the switch that is hooked ether at the back of the peddle or on the linkage and join them together .That should bypass it until you get a new switch.
If it will start then the switch that indicates that the brake is disengaged is still on. Possibly adjust or replace switch.
There is no parking brake. You hold the tractor in place by putting it in park like a car with auto trans.
The brake switch on a John Deere 310G may not release due to several reasons, including a malfunctioning switch itself, a jammed or faulty brake pedal, or an electrical issue such as a blown fuse or bad wiring. Additionally, dirt or debris around the brake pedal can prevent it from fully disengaging. Inspecting these components can help identify the root cause of the problem. If necessary, consulting the service manual or a professional mechanic is advisable for a thorough diagnosis.
behind the ignition switch on the circuit board. there are two fuses there
The wiring sequence for a John Deere LT typically involves connecting the battery, starter, ignition switch, and various safety switches in a specific order. Ensure that the battery is connected first, followed by the ignition switch to control power flow. Safety switches, such as those for the seat and brake, should be connected to allow the engine to start only when the conditions are safe. Always refer to the owner's manual for detailed wiring diagrams specific to the model for the best results.
I had a problem with the break switch this spring. Took both plugs off the back of the switch. Hit them with contact cleaner, now it is fine. Brian Butts
