the 24 vac power source from the 24 vac transformer is protected by an automotive 3 amp fuse burried in the cable harness! The 3 amp fuse (pink) has two 1/4" quick connect lugs connected to the circuitry by two wires, a grey and green on my furnace, and was folded deep into the cable cluster held by a few cable ties. I expected a chassis mounted fuse, but nope! DO NOT USE A LARGER AMPERAGE FUSE than a pink 3 amp fuse. It protects the transformer from burning out if overloaded or shorted components, and something caused that fuse to blow--if blown! If it were blown, you would see a blackened spot in the fuse body between the two lugs.
My furnace and outside AC condenser unit were dead and I decided to troubleshoot it myself. The furnace schematic was pasted inside the control box cover (2 screws). My voltmeter told me that the transformer was ok (24 VAC out/ 240 VAC in) but nothing else was getting 24 volts! Eventually, I found the fuse, replaced it and it immediately blew out! Traced the problem to mouse-chewed and shorted 24 VAC control leads out to the Condenser unit. Rewired the wire run with new low voltage wire from the furnace to the condenser unit and PRESTO! It all worked and the next 3 amp fuse held!
Where is the serial number located on a 2004 nordyne gas package heat unit
In the air handler on the circuit board a 5amp fuse.
The AC fuse box is typically located outside the house near the air conditioning unit. It is usually mounted on a wall or attached to the exterior of the house for easy access.

All air conditioning manufactures put the Max Fuse size right on the unit itself. If you can't find it on the unit tag, try looking up the model number online.
The fuse for the AC switch is typically located in the electrical panel or circuit breaker box of your home. It may be labeled specifically for the air conditioning unit or HVAC system. In some cases, there may also be a disconnect switch near the outdoor unit that contains a fuse. Always ensure to turn off the power before inspecting or replacing any fuses.
To replace an AC fuse in a home air conditioning system, first, turn off the power to the unit. Locate the fuse box, usually near the outdoor unit. Identify the blown fuse by checking for a blackened or broken filament. Remove the old fuse and replace it with a new one of the same amperage rating. Turn the power back on and test the system to ensure it is working properly.
