On a VW VR6 3.2-liter engine, the oil pressure switch is typically located on the driver's side of the engine block, near the oil filter. It can be accessed from underneath the vehicle or from the top, depending on the vehicle's configuration. Make sure to check the specific model and year for precise location, as it may vary slightly. Always ensure the engine is cool and disconnected from the battery before attempting any maintenance.
The recommended engine oil for both 1.8 Liter turbo and 2.8 Liter VR6 is 5w30. I personally recommend 5w40 synthetic on the turbocharged 1.8 Liter.
should check the oil pressure switch first if that does not fix the problem than connect a oil pressure tool to see if u really dont have oil pressure. if got good oil pressure around 35 to 65 psi any thing lower replace oil pump. I would try the cheapest route first Go but a oil pressure sender to see if that fixes the problem
On a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta VR6, the oil sensor, or oil pressure switch, is typically located near the oil filter, on the engine block. It resembles a small cylindrical component with an electrical connector on top, often colored black or gray. The sensor usually has a threaded base that screws into the engine, and it may have a warning light symbol or markings indicating its function. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for precise location and specifications.

It is important to know how much fluid to put into a cars engine. For a 1997 Jetta Vr6 needs about 5.3 quarts of engine oil.
The knock sensor for a 2.8 vr6 is located on the side of the block. It is right against the hose for the oil cooler.
I don't know if the same applies to the VR6 but on the 1.8T you can find the oil filter by centering your self under the front of the car. Directly behind the radiator is the oil filter about midway up the car. Hoses can get in the way and block you from seeing it sometimes. Hope this helps. My brother has a regular 2.0 jetta, and I got a jetta VR6. The location of the oil filter is different on the VR6 here is a link to find it. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1749962
