A rough idle in your 2000 Grand Am GT can be caused by several issues, including a dirty or failing idle air control valve (IAC), a vacuum leak, or problems with the fuel system, such as a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump. It could also indicate spark plug or ignition coil issues. Since it changed suddenly, it's advisable to check for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and inspect these components for any faults.
Carb.? Float sticking? Rebuild or replace
Did they replace the MAP sensor? If not, good chance there's your problem.
I had the same problem on my 98 Mazda 626 and the O2 sensor was faulty.....
I have a problem. I just bought a used 1995 Kawasaki 220 Bayou. The engine started running a little rough at first. Kept getting worse and then started backfiring through the exhaust. I had the carbeurator rebuilt but still runs rough and backfires. Cranks good and idles good. What could be my problem? Thanks
mass air flow (maf) causes the running ruff but not really the stalled start my z and many others have this same problem
The coil might be bad ,,like it was in mine
Try replacing the camshaft sensor. Sounds exactly like the problem I experienced.
crankshaft sensor going.
Have the computer scanned for trouble codes. The problem may be a bad Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Idle Control Valve (ICV).
Perhaps you have a leak in your transmission. Check the transmission fluid while the car is running. DO NOT check any other fluids while the engine is running.
