NO. The Smart Car is not a hybrid and receives no tax break. It has a 3 cylinder 71 h.p. gasoline engine. The Smart gets around 40 mpg but requires the use of Premium fuel. This is equal to a car burning Regular fuel and getting 36 mpg. Not a good trade off for this tiny car. There are larger cars that do just as well on Regular fuel. Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, just to name two.
a Smart Car has 40-70 horsepower
There are car that provide MPG over 40. These cars can include the new (2011/2012) Kia, Audi, Volkswagen, Smart car, Toyota, Lexus, Mazda and many more. Be sure to keep in mind that although you are purchasing a more fuel efficient car, the prices of the cars also run a tad higher than most.
Currently Toyota has a few cars that have 40 mpg, such as the Camry, the Corolla, the Prius and the Yaris. Honda has a few cars that have approximately 40 mpg such as the Civic, the Accord, or the CR-V.
25 to 40mpg
BMW 330d, fairly cheap to buy and 40+mpg!
There are two very good American made hybrid cars that are excellent on gas and safe for the environment. The Chevy Volt runs on electricity and gasoline and it gets 95 city miles per gallon and 190 mpg highway, on gasoline it gets 35 city and 40 highway. Another great car would be the Smart Car, though a 2 seater, it gets 94 city mpg city and 79 hwy mpg on electricity, and on gasoline it gets 36 and 43 respectively.
40 MPG cars are fuel efficient, eco-friendly, and safe for the environment. Overall, owning a car that gets up to or at least 40 MPG will save you lots of money, especially in these harsh economic times when gasoline prices are on the rise.
25-26mpg gasolene, 35-40 diesel
My first car back in1972 . 9 to 12 mpg but gas was under .40 cents back then.
That depends entirely - on how many miles per gallon (mpg) you get from the vehicle ! For example - a car that gives 60 mpg would use less than a car that only gives 40 mpg !
40 mpg
