either headlights are on or dome lights EITHER UR LITES ARE ON OR UR DOOR IS NOT CLOSING RIGHT ANSWER Does chime go off when door is closed? Mine does but chimes constantly with no key and door open. On mine it is in the key cylinder on the steering column. There is a sensor that says the key is in the ignition. I smack steering wheel and chime goes off. Find the one and only wire that goes to key cylinder and disconnect it. By doing this you no longer will be told that key is in ignition or that headlights are on so be careful.

Check to make sure that the plug (there normally is a piece of plastic that pushes in the switch to make the chime go off) Go and push the button in by hand with your keys on if it goes off than this is the problem. If the chime does not go off after a few seconds than the problem is that the switch mechanism in the chime is malfunctioning and you need to go and pull the chime and either leave it out or replace it.

The owners manual for a 2001 F150 shows fuse # 15 as a 5 amp fuse for the stop lamp switch , ( speed control , brake shift interlock ) GEM module , RABS module so I wouldn't recommend it ! When my door chime goes off without the key in the ignition I just poke the key into the ignition lock cylinder once or twice and when I remove the key again the chime has stopped
1. Sit in the drivers seat with the key in the off position. 2. Buckle the seat belt. 3. Turn the ignition key to the "on" position without starting the engine. and Wait for the seat belt light to go off. 4. Within 1 minute, unbuckle and re-buckle the seat belt 3 times, ending with the belt buckled. Each time you buckle the belt, wait for the belt light to go off. 5. Turn off the ignition key. A chime will sound indicating the change has been accepted. Repeat the procedure to turn the seat belt chime back on.
It's going to be connected to a fuse. However, that fuse may not necessarily be solely for that warning chime. If it were me, I'd start by checking the fuses and see if I could do it by simply pulling the fuse and not having any other systems go out.
