Bought a used 2005 Impreza and the key that came with the car started it fine but it would not open the door, trunk or glove box. We assumed it was a valet key but it was not. Took that only key to a locksmith and he made 2 new ones for us using the only one we had for his sample. Before my son and I left his parking lot we tried the new keys. To my amazement both the keys that he just made opened and worked on every system on the car. We were fine with that and shelved the original key that came with the car. Not sure how that would even work but it did. This is not much of an answer but wanted to share the story.
willnot open trunk or locked compartments
i have a 2001 Honda CR-V and i open it by sticking the key in and turning it then the glass will pop up then pull out the door.
how do you open gas and trunk lids when button will not work or trunk key
With the key, there is no trunk release inside the car. You use the same key you would use to open the door to open the trunk.
The only way to open the trunk is the key fob or key
Push the "open trunk" button on the dashboard or steering column.
Use you key to unlock and open the trunk.
You have to use the key and the keyhole is located on the back between the X and K.
If the back of the rear seat can be removed, it may be possible to enter the trunk and open it. If not, then the lock will either have to be picked or drilled out.
On a 01 model, you should have a trunk release button in the trunk, or on the drivers door. If that doesnt work, you can see about lowering the rear seats down, and getting into the trunk that way. There should be a little pull strap near the trunk lock that will open the trunk. There is a trunk release button - when you open the glovebox, it is to the left of the opening so that it cannot be seen unless glovebox is open.
you might have to crall through the opening in the back seat
There are no buttons in the glove box or center console for the trunk on the 08. The only way to open the trunk is either with the key or the button on the key fob.
